After the 60km drive from Rio de Janeiro you will arrive in Petropolis to explore the Imperial Museum, housing tapestries, antique furniture and jewels. A highlight of your visit is the 1.7kg imperial crown with over 600 diamonds and 77 pearls. The former palace of Dom Pedro II has been restored to its former glory, creating the perfect setting for your trip back in time.
Admire the gothic architecture of Catedral Sao Pedro de Alcantara. Visit the tombstone of Brazil’s last emperor, Dom Pedro II and his wife and daughter. Before returning to your hotel in Rio de Janeiro you will see Crystal Palace, a magnificent glass structure imported from France to house exhibitions and events.

Nice to see another place outside of Rio–the mountains and countryside. Don’t eat lunch at the place they take you to, it costs about US16 for this lunch buffet which was marginal at best.
