I usually use Viator because I do these excursions on a layover and am by myself…always feel safe and know I will get a quality tour. However this time the company man for the rafting group who was like the leader was unprofessional and actually rude…I know there are other companys that do this trip maybe Viator should use them instead. But The river was Beautiful and Clean !!!, my raft guide was great and the food was wonderful

Although a long tour (ca. 12 h), I loved this trip. The guides were VERY knowledgeable and super friendly. There was lots of wild life to see and even on the way to Tortuguero the guides always were watching out for things to see by the road. They spotted e.g. a sloth just by the road side and gave us all the time we needed to take some pictures and observe. Although many hours a very relaxed trip.

I only had one free day in Costa Rica and chose to do this Tour. It was a great combination of activities! The bus ride provided scenic views, boat ride had you searching for wildlife, and the zipline was a fun adventure. The food was good. We didn’t horseback ride but that’s ok. The personnel were awesome – especially the zipline guys! Plus, I felt safe the entire time even though I’m afraid of heights.

This tour was well worth the money! Donald was an awesome tour guide with 15 years of experience. He knows so much about the process at the coffee plantation, the volcanoes and the waterfalls. He taught us a little Costa Rican, as well as telling us about the country while on the bus.

Even though we are huge coffee lovers, we had no idea what the process involved. I only have more of an appreciation for coffee farmers now. The breakfast was excellent too!

It happened to be cloudy at the Poas volcano, so we didn’t see much. Instead we hiked up 160 feet to the other crater and saw the lake. Some of our group stayed at the original crater long enough to see the clouds part for a good view of the crater. We regret missing that a little. Note to people on the tour – when the guide says meet at a certain time, be there. Don’t make him come looking for you because you made everyone wait 20 minutes!

The waterfall area was serene. It started with several “houses” of wildlife in which you could get up close to a variety of native wildlife. An excellent lunch buffet was next, offering traditional CR dishes as well as pizza, hot dogs and salad. The tour ended with the falls, which were gorgeous. Donald knew the tour so well, that he could tell us how many steps we would descend and ascend.

In addition to Donald’s great tour guide skills, our driver was amazing – some of the roads were narrow, on a cliffside and full of potholes. I never once felt scared or unsafe.

It was a great trip! The tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable. The hot springs were fun but the visit to the Arenal Volcano outlook was the highlight. We got there just before sunset and took some amazing pictures. The food was very good as well. It is a long trip but worth it. Just don’t expect the volcano to spew lava and throw a show. It is on a “calm” period and it is just smoking at the top but it is still spectacular.
