The country Adventure Safari tour was a very interesting experience. We got to see part of the Dominican Republic that one normally does ot see while at a beautiful All-inclusive resort. I am not sure that what we actually saw was typical Dominican Republic life, but it was interesting none-the-less. I think it would be nice if the tour guide had a microphone and speaker so everyone in the truck could hear the narration. with today’s technology, that would not be too hard to accomplish. The tour got long toward the end and almost everyone was happy to get back to the hotel. In any case, it was worthwhile and fun. Try it.

If I could give this 100 stars it would not be enough! The safari itself is fantastic, went to some great places, met some great people and had some fantastic experiences; it was a real eye opener. What made it even better – the guide we had; a guy called Gregory. He was my favourite person of the entire holiday and my family all had the same opinion. He speaks god knows how many languages with ease and is full of interesting information. We learnt more about the Dominican in 1 day with him than in the other 14 days together. He is very funny and full of energy – everyone on the trip loved him and were still talking about him and the trip 4 days later!! The trip itself is great but if you go on it you have to go with this guy – he is a legend He should be cloned and one of him should be on every trip there is. Brilliant!!!

This was our favourite excursion. We got on the boat went to the second level and got some lounge chairs and relaxed as we travelled along the coastline to our destination. We then snorkelled around to the stingray and nurse shark compound. This was a delight as we took pictures with a stingray and then got back into the pen and snorkelled with the sharks and stingray for about a 1/2 hour taking underwater pics. We then got back onto the boat and had some sandwiches and some drinks on our way to an oasis for more drinks they had a floating bar. It was heaven. We then got back on the boat and travelled along the coastline back to the dock. Manuella was a great host and the tour was very relaxing. Would do it again.

This was the best excursion ever!! It is a little pricey, but worth every penny! If you are looking for a more “real” experience, away from packed buses and boats with hoards of people, strangers, doing things in groups rather than exploring things on your own, this trip is for you! It was the tour guide, my husband and I in our own buggy, and another couple in their own buggy, so just 3 of us. We went out into the “real-life” areas and saw real neighbourhoods and how people of the area really live their day to day lives. We also went to a private beach area that truly was a piece of paradise!

We did three excursions while in Punta Cana and this was by far the best!! Charlie is an excellent guide and the staff was wonderful. We got to see and experience a side of the Dominican culture that the other buggy tours just don’t offer their clients. You will get very dirty and muddy but the experience is well worth it! I highly recommend this experience and you will not be disappointed!

Schedule

Departure Point: Tour departs from most Puerto Plata, Playa Dorada, Cofresi and Maimon hotels. A surcharge is charged for passengers transferring from Sosua, Cabarette, Rio San Juan, Bahia Principe, Playa Grande and Luperon (payable direct and only available on certain days).

Departure Time: Stingray Encounters operate at the following times: 9:30am / 12:00pm / 2:00pm / 4:00pm

Shark Encounters operate at the following times: 10:00am / 12:30pm / 2:30pm / 4:30pm

An absolutely incredible experience. The Stingrays were surprisingly forceful creatures, yet jelly like and elegant. Be warned, you may end up being part of the shark show, but it is an enjoyable experience. I would do it again. Worth every penny!
