Sunset Cocktail
A subdued, calm alternative to fishing. Get on a Dhoani and enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun go down in a kaleidoscope of colors.

Snorkeling
The lagoons of Baa Atoll are home to some of the more unique marine life such as lionfish, angle fish and large manta rays. In order to preserve this underwater wonderland, guests are reminded not to step on corals, or break or take away any part of the reef.

Hello Neighbors
Let us take you to a local island and a nearby resort for you to compare the differences. Meet the friendly people of these tiny islands and explore their way of life.

Menus change daily, blending Indian and Sri Lankan traditions with an emphasis on seafood, tandoor and organic, locally-sourced produce. Spicing is used with a lightness of touch. Choice is always tantalising, promising simplicity in the tropics and sophistication for the more demanding gourmand.

COMO Shambhala Cuisine

With COMO Shambhala cuisine guests can benefit from a wide and changing variety of menus (breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as room service) which focus on nutritionally enriching and organic foodstuffs. The emphasis is on raw ingredients which are more easily digested as well as richer in living enzymes, vitamins and sea minerals.

Cocoa Island don’t use cow’s milk, nor genetically tampered soy alternatives, but own blended nut milks. and use honey instead of processed sugars. We also use sea vegetables high in nutrients, including magnesium and pumpkin seed ‘parmesan’ which replaces the flora found naturally in the intestine but is destroyed by cooking. Fish is an important feature on our menus – caught and brought straight to your plate.

COMO Shambhala cuisine is not about deprivation; it’s for people who enjoy their food but want to feel good.

Resort Facilities

Enrich yourself with simple pleasures – At Cocoa Island you will indulge in nature’s bequest, from dust-white sand between idle toes, to a warm blue sea that turns blush-pink with the falling light.

Some guests find their own stretch of beach; others prefer to relax in privacy on their suite’s hidden terrace, or lounge beside the resort’s main swimming pool – cobalt, melting into an empty horizon.

Library features an extensive book collection; games are also available, which can be delivered to your suite. A hotel boutique sells a carefully edited selection of gifts as well as holiday necessities like hats and sun lotion.

The all-day lounge offers a comfortable stylish environment for guests. It features Internet access, flatscreen TV and media players as well as books and magazines.

Dive Seasons

During the dry season (Jan – April), currents tend to be strong with excellent visibility (25-40m). Most dives are at the channel entrance or drop offs where all the big fish can be seen, such as large Dogtooth Tuna, Giant Trevally, large schools of Eagle Rays and, of course, sharks. Note some sites are not suitable for beginner divers.

Rainy season (May – Dec) brings rain and tropical storms, but some very good dives for manta rays. Visibility is reduced (10-15m) due to plankton in the water; however, this is also what most marine creatures feed upon. During September there is the chance to see Whalesharks and Hammerheads.

The water temperature remains around 27 to 30 degrees Celsius all year.

THE SPA & AYURVEDA RETREAT

The Spa and Ayurvedic Retreat, a resort in itself, provides a comprehensive approach to physical, spiritual and mental well-being, with a special emphasis on yoga and ayurveda. Secluded open-air treatment areas make the lush tropical setting an integral part of the relaxation and treatment process.

The spa complex
Located in the heart of the island and stretching down to the sea, the spa complex occupies an elevated 1-hectare (2.5-acre) site, with 10 individual thatched treatment pavilions – four over water, three in a lush garden setting and three in the Ayurvedic Retreat. Set over crystal waters, each water pavilion has an attached steam room and deep bath that overlooks the ocean, while each garden treatment villa has a steam room and outdoor shower. Guests aged 16 and above are welcome to enjoy all spa facilities and treatments.

Numerous pathways throughout the beautiful surrounding gardens allow for leisurely walks pre- and post-treatment. The spa also incorporates a beauty salon, juice bar, beachfront resting pavilion and retail area.

Yoga
Yoga at the Resort is a magical experience. A resident yogi guides beginners and experienced followers through inspiring morning meditation and evening enlightenment sessions from a pavilion that “floats” on the lagoon. Private sessions are available and the yogi welcomes all guests for discussions on this ancient spiritual practice.

Ayurvedic Retreat
Situated within the spa complex, the Ayurvedic Retreat, a first for Four Seasons, is designed to stimulate its guests into thinking about, experimenting with and understanding the fundamental philosophical approach to ayurveda. The Resort has worked closely with experts from nearby Kerala, India, to ensure this ancient science of life has been successfully transported to the Maldives.

These experienced Keralites and Sri Lankan therapists who are also ayurvedic physicians are highly trained professionals in this ancient art of ayurveda, including diet, body type, patient approach and the practice of yoga and meditation.

The Ayurveda Retreat has three individual treatment pavilions designed to take guests on a journey through the physical, nutritional and emotional benefits of the ayurvedic system. In each treatment pavilion, furnished with wooden ayurveda tables, traditional herbal bathtubs, steam benches and an area for mud treatments, guests are treated to physical and spiritual rejuvenation.

Besides introducing the myriad of possibilities that ayurveda offers, guests will also learn to integrate some of the processes into their daily lives. At the herbal centre, fragrant gardens are planted with medicinal herbs, trees and flowers. Here, guests can learn about the various oils and herbal concoctions used in the ayurvedic process. The Resort’s resident ayurvedic physician is available to advise on healthier lifestyle options and to design dosha-specific meal plans in cooperation with the Resort’s ayurvedic chef, for guests who wish to experience this ancient science throughout the duration of their stay.

Another specialty is the panchakarma procedure, a series of five therapies that comprises ayurveda’s primary purification and detoxification treatment. Due to the complexity of these treatments and the associated detoxification diet that is essential to its success, the procedure is offered as a 14-day package only. Please enquire. In-room massage and spa services are also available.
