No News No Shoes

Laid back and chilled out. That’s Soneva Fushi. The all-year-round comfortable tropical temperature requires only light and natural fabrics. Polo-style shirts and summer dresses and sarongs are ideal. A jacket or wrap may be suitable for winter, when temperatures can be as low as 23 degrees Celsius. Shoes are not practical on the soft sandy jungle paths, so we suggest that, like your hosts, they be avoided. Laundry service is offered, but there is no dry cleaning.

Accommodation

Soneva Fushi offers just 65 accommodations, which capture the very essence of a luxurious castaway fantasy. The Jungle Reserve and the two Retreats offer the premier accommodation. Each villa opens to its very own stretch of white sand beach just a few steps away, whilst many also include Private Sea Water Swimming Pools. Each bathroom extends to a private garden, whilst utmost care is given to the environment.

The Soneva Fushi Jungle Reserve offers the ultimate in privacy complete with a master bedroom, large living space, massage pavilion and steam room, personal gym, private pool and Tree House. The master bedroom has an open water garden and the villa can be opened on all sides to enjoy the breeze – or air-conditioned. A footbridge connects to the Spa Villa that comprises a sitting room, a steam-room and shower, as well as massage pavilion. A personal air-conditioned gym is located in an adjacent pavilion. The private pool wraps around the villa in a half-moon free-form shape. The Tree House features a bunk bed and a single bed, a toilet and a slide into the swimming pool.

Main Restaurant

Set on the sunrise side of the island, under the mighty Uhnee and Banyan trees you will discover our Main Restaurant.

Modern Mediterranean a la carte menu a feast for all “Six Senses”. The food has a Mediterranean and seafood influence. The a la carte menu is prepared according to light and healthy cooking methods, using only the best ingredients available. The daily changing “Simply Soneva” menu represents a selection of premium produce, creatively assembled for your dining pleasure. To enhance your dining experience we host an Asian buffet on Tuesdays and an International BBQ every Saturday evening.

The Organic Garden Restaurant

The Organic Garden Restaurant is near Cinema Paradiso and the tennis court. You will traverse organic fruit and herb gardens, and then climb broad winding stairs to a rope bridge that spans the banana plantation. A panoramic westerly aspect over the gardens and surrounding jungle will afford spectacular views of the sunset.

Alternatively try a cooking class with our chef in the vegetable garden, where you can enjoy learning about Asian cuisine, and cook your culinary creations using the fresh herbs and spices available at your fingertips. Since we like our classes to be spontaneous, we offer a glass of wine or two to make the cooking a little less stressful!

Offering well balanced cuisine, the dinner comprises a daily changing a la carte menu of five choices per course, in which all the dishes will be created from organic produce. We will also be offering dishes on the menu that are health-conscious, encompassing raw and well balanced cuisine.

Me Dhuniye Restaurant [Reservations recommended]

Soneva Fushi evolves again to bring something new to the table. Always looking to enhance the culinary experiences we are pleased to introduce a Peruvian and Japanese fusion culinary adventure. The menu draws heavily on classic Japanese food with South American influences.

The main inspiration was to focus on the amazing quality of the raw ingredients already abundant in the Maldives such as the local fish delivered daily to the jetty along with some of the organic produce from the garden. To ensure we got the authenticity correct we were pleased to be able to work with Toshiro Konishi, Japanese born who immigrated to Peru in 1975. His restaurant in Lima has for many years attracted positive reviews and acclaim as one of the best Sushi restaurants in the world. You can now try some of his signature dishes and an array of subtle assorted Sashimi, a variety of hand made Niguiri sushi or Maki sushi rolls. Try Toshiro’s special Peruvian Ceviche’s.

With these tempting dishes we have also brought to you a selection of the finest Japanese sakes to enjoy, chilled or warm, plum wines and a fine selection of South American wines for your pleasure from Argentina and Chile.Me Dhuniye, is located on the sunset side of the island and is open for dinner.

In Villa Dining

Our entire in villa dining menus can be found under the chapters “In Villa Breakfast”, “In Villa a La Carte”, “In Villa Beverages” and “In and Out of Villa Dining Experiences”. To appreciate the real Soneva way of life, or if you require a custom-tailored programme, you may contact our In Villa Dining Manager or Executive Chef (ext: 3268) for suggestions.

Our in villa team also acts as the reservation centre for the various food and beverage activities. The in villa dining team is very mobile, and we can cater to most of our guest needs at virtually any location. The sandbank dinners are without doubt a unique experience, but do not forget our garden lunches or cooking classes arranged by our in villa dining team.

BAR

All day drinks and snacks. From 8am until the last guest leaves.

The main bar is an oasis of calm for reading, a board game, a relaxed game of snooker, recuperation from strenuous spa treatments or even a wi-fi hot spot for sending an email. As the sun sets it becomes an idyllic setting for cocktails and conversation. The best selection of spirits and liqueurs are available within our stylish white and brown bar “….So Spiritual”. Peruse through one of the biggest collections of spirits within the Maldives.

Me Dhuniye Bar and Pavillion

Sunset Cocktails from 5.30pm until the last guest leaves Me Dhuniye bar sits on the sunset side of the island, which is truly the most idyllic place to watch the sun set behind the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Sunset cocktails on the beach 700 wines are available from the nearby cellar an extensive selection of whisky, rum and aperitifs. 20 wines are available by the glass. Sunset and Cellar Tastings in the Me Dhuniye Pavilion and Wine Cellar.

Champagne Bar

All day drinks and snacks. Open from 11am until 7.30pm

Situated at the end of Jetty B, over looking the vibrant reef on the sunset side of the island., this bar is a dream for our well travelled Robinson Crusoe…tasteful, indulgent and different.

Wine Cellar

Soneva Fushi has gained worldwide recognition for the unique selection of wines available on this tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Adjacent to Me Dhuniye restaurant, our subterranean Wine Cellar holds up to seven thousand bottles in climate controlled peace.

At your conveniences with 20mins notice. We open the cellar for our guests to pick their favourite bottle with the assistance of our Sommelier. Choose any wine and we will arrange for it to be served anywhere on the island.

Wine Tastings

Explore some of over 700 different labels at a wine tasting in the cellar. Six wines are tasted together with an assortment of amuse bouclé. Join our Sommelier in the cellar for an extended aperitif and find something similar, familiar, or broaden your horizons with something new.

* These evenings are an interactive discussion of six bottles with selected canapés to match the wines and our location. It is all the more enjoyable for the diversity of interests that gather around the tasting table. Thus, a minimum of six guests will have confirmed a reservation with Guest Relations before a tasting will go ahead. Cancellations after 3pm on the day of the tasting will be charged at sixty US dollars per guest.

Wine Dinners

Every day, with a minimum of four guests from 7pm (Please confirm your reservation the day before). For these indulgent dinners the menus are written after bottles have been selected. We create a suitable dish to match both the wine and your occasion. Our Executive Chef and Sommelier will arrange to meet with you the day before to discuss your preferences for the menu and wines.

The Soneva Fushi and the Environment

Sustainable development has become a guiding principle for governments, businesses, NGOs and the public sector. In recent years there has also been a growing interest in what is now termed ‘eco-tourism’, as the hospitality industry responds to increased consumer awareness of environmental issues. Travellers and guests now expect hotels and resorts to have policies and practices that: promote sustainable waste management; reduce energy use; encourage sustainable purchasing; and minimise carbon emissions.

Tourism is one of the largest and fastest growing industries and has significant social and environmental impacts, not only locally but globally. In order to develop in a sustainable way resorts should not consume renewable resources, such as forests (and timber), soil, water and fish stocks faster than they are replenished. Also, non-renewable resources (fossil fuels, minerals and ores) should not be exploited before renewable substitutes can be found. Similarly, pollutants, in the form of solid, liquid and gaseous emissions and greenhouse gasses in particular should not be released faster than they can be recycled within the ecosystem. Sustainable development is based on the premise that current needs are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Sustainability means doing things better – not doing without. Since the opening of Six Senses’ flagship resort in 1995, Soneva Fushi has made sustainability a priority, without compromising the experience and expectations of guests.
