This trip is absolutely fantastic, from the minute you are picked up from your hotel to when you take the leisurely trip back to Bangkok via the river cruise. The ruins are amazing, I loved the visit to the King’s summer palace, well worth doing. This tour was the highlight of my visit to Bangkok and I highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Bangkok. This is definitely value for money and you come away with great memories.

The reserve is home to over 153 different species of animals, including 200-300 wild elephants, as well as other rarely seen mammals such as Asiatic black bear, tiger, leopards, barking deer to name a few. Exotic birds such as the great hornbill and the Himalayan ribbed bats also live inside the park and are protected by law. Sightings can never be guaranteed but it is great to wander the park knowing wildlife is out there!

En-route to the park your tour will stop at a local fruit market in the province of Nakhon Nayok so you can enjoy exotic fruits such as mango and rambutans – other wise known as the ‘hairy fruit’ which is similar to a lychee. Once at Khao Yai National Park you can take a walk along one of the well marked trails that wind their way through the mountains, forests, streams and waterfalls.

We were pleased with our tour to Angkor Wat. Our guide was very informative and patient. He took the time to explain and show us the temples. He answered all of our questions. Lunch at the Wat was a delight. Overlooking the temple while enjoying lunch was a highlight. We would gladly recommend this tour. Every stop we were given cold bottles of water to take with us, which on a hot day was refreshing. Well done.

This was well worth the experience. We went on a Sunday, which we found to be a mistake, since that’s the day the locals go. If you want to see the locals and soak up the atmosphere then go on a Sunday; if you want the tourist in your photos, then go during the week. The trip down the river is great and relaxing, just watch out when you get out the boat! We got picked up by a car with a guide, so the car stopped on the way to take photos whenever we wanted. Highly recommended!

Fantastic few days! Despite other reviews criticising the fact that you have to return to port each morning to collect people staying for just one night, we wouldn’t change a thing. Each day had different activities and routes so it didn’t feel ‘samely’. Seafood was delicious. All in all, an unmissable experience for anybody passing through northern Vietnam!

We had the best time and met some wonderful people. Our tour guide was great and a lovely friendly man who spoke excellent English and taught us many things about local history and other events. Halong Bay is absolutely beautiful. Our cabin was great and very comfortable with good air conditioning. The food was fantastic, plenty to eat and the drinks were reasonably priced. We had no issues with security and felt completely safe, and even left our valuables in our cabin with peace of mind, even though a safe was available. Our only regret was that we didn’t do the two-night cruise.

Life was difficult for the inhabitants and to protect against outside intruders bobby traps were laid throughout the complex.
