Hotel Waldstaetterhof is a nostalgic 3-star “Superior” hotel with 79 rooms. It is centrally located just across the street from the railway station and a 5-minute walk to the Old Town. Also a few steps away you will find beautiful Lake of Lucerne, the pier for excursions by ship and the Culture & Congress Center.

Once inside the imposing building, every care is being taken to offer guests the best of both modern and traditional design. There are two room types with individual design elements. Modern art adorns the walls of the contemporary rooms which have stripped wood flooring and Philip Starck chairs. The more traditional rooms are no less comfortably furnished. Self parking in the backyard at small additional cost. Reservations are required. For children sharing room with parents, please contact the hotel for any extra bed charges.

Brilliant tour, well worth doing because of the small group sizes, it’s really personal and loads of fun, the tour guide was just fab, very friendly and knowledgeable and good to be around. Word of warning though, if you don’t like the TV programme ‘LOST’, and the other people on the tour do, it’s very ‘LOST’ orientated, that was the only thing that let it down for me, might be worth asking to be on a ‘LOST’ or ‘NON-LOST’ tour. Not sure if it’s something you could request, but well worth going anyway. Much better than some of the coach tours we’ve been on. This is very much aimed at a younger audience. We loved it.

The Yukon Sightseeing Tour will awe you with the natural beauty of Southeast Alaska and Canada’s British Columbia and Yukon Territory. Join an optional ATV ride, try your hand at gold panning or meet the adorable Huskies preparing for the Yukon Quest dog sled race.

Arriving at Emerald Lake, the turnaround point of this scenic Yukon adventure, your guide will gladly take your picture overlooking the beautiful lake (as with all stops, your guide is always happy to assist you in capturing your memories on film). Next, stop at the Caribou Crossing Trading Post and Museum where you can relax and enjoy a tasty, satisfying lunch. Baked chicken with bbq sauce, baked potato, coleslaw, dinner rolls, donuts and coffee – Yukon style!

After lunch, visit one of the most spectacular wildlife museums in the North Country. As you stroll through the 9,000 sq ft museum, you will find the quality of their wildlife exhibits to be truly remarkable. The museum’s exhibits range from Ice Age specimens to animals more recently introduced into the Yukon. Also, included are exotic animals from both the arctic and sub-arctic regions of Alaska and the Yukon, as well as from around the world.

Take a stroll through the museum grounds and browse through the gift shop, or join one of the fun filled, family oriented optional activities available including ATV Ride, Husky Hike, Gold Panning or a Dog Cart Ride (see “Itinerary” below for details).
Time permitting, your next two stops will be at the Carcross Desert, the world’s smallest desert and the shores of crystal clear Bennett Lake. There you will can skip a few stones across the water, take pictures and learn about the historic Klondike Gold Rush. Postcard quality photo stops and possible wildlife sightings await as you journey back to Skagway.
