Diving

The Beach Housae at Manafaru Maldives offers a 5 Star PADI Dive Centre and team of experts specialising in a wide range of PADI-certified dive programs for adults and children as young as 8 years old. These include a complimentary daily orientation dive. A PADI Open Water Dive qualification can be achieved during a one-week stay. “Bubblemaker” lessons for younger kids and Discover Scuba programs for pre-teens and older are also available.

Two new Bauer Verticus compressors and a separate Nitrox compressor make it possible to dive unlimited, with either Air or Nitrox and a variety of programs include Discover Scuba Diving – Open Water license up to Assistant Instructor and a variety of specialty courses which include Nitrox, Digital under Water Photography, Videography, Underwater scooter and Re-breather courses. Giving the opportunity to both beginners and experienced divers to enhance their knowledge and improve their diving skills.

Water sports

The VDWS certified Water sports school ‘Blue’ offers complimentary non-motorized water sports to all guests at the resort. A selection of various high class quality equipments are available with a large variety of wind surfing boards, catamarans and canoes.

Qualified instructors are available for beginners and more experienced enthusiasts alike.

Excursions

Excursions are offered both on traditional Maldivian Luxury Dhoni Cruises and speed boats featuring visits to local cultural sites and nearby inhabited islands. Experience the traditional Maldivian hand line fishing and snorkeling tutorials. This resort also boasts two private islands for more intimate experiences or private island dining and castaway experience.

Gentlemen’s Retreat

Some say the Maldives is a destination that appeals more to women than men. Indeed at many resorts, facilities seem to be geared more towards women. However The Beach House would like to redress the balance. ‘Gentlemen’s Retreat’ is a club house/retreat designed primarily with men in mind.

For Kids

To keep everyone happy and to allow guests of all ages to enjoy an unforgettable holiday, the kid’s club has its own private pool, games room and extensive activity programs including turtle monitoring during the nesting season.

Babysitting services are provided for children above 3 years old.

Turtle Kids Club operates from 9 am until 6 pm. The Turtle Club accepts children aged 3 to 12 years. Children below 3 years old need to be accompanied by one of the parents.

There’s no better way to spoil yourself than to open your eyes to the unspoilt beauty of the Maldives. Diving

Embark on a personal nautical adventure as you explore one of the finest most vibrant house reefs in the Maldives. You’ll be delighted to know that one of the most interesting wrecks in the Maldives is to be found on the resorts very own house reef – at a perfect depth for most divers. For orientation and safety purposes you’ll be accompanied by an instructor on your first dive. If you are not an experienced diver, further training is advised.

US$15 will be charged per diver as an Insurance fee for DAN [Divers Alert Network] excluding divers that already have DAN Insurance. This is a one-off payment covering 21 days within the Maldives for any suspected or ascertained cases of decompression illness to a limit of 6000Euro. The resort is sorry to inform you that any other form of dive insurance is not accepted due to a contract agreement with DAN. The nearest DAN medical facility is just 15 minutes from Angsana and Banyan Tree resorts.

Diving Courses Available at Vabbinfaru

Banyan Tree Maldives Vabbinfaru holds a variety of PADI diving courses. As a PADI 5-star Gold Palm Resort dive center it engages diving instructors who are highly professional, enthusiastic and PADI certified. The courses are unique in their strong emphasis on environmental awareness. They also offer specialty courses on Drift, Deep, Night, Boat and Naturalist diving. Navigation and Peak performance buoyancy dives. Groups are limited to a maximum of 6 divers.

Bubble Maker (1 to 2 hrs)
Especially for young adventurers who are 8 years of age, the 2 to 3-hour Bubble Maker course is an introduction to experience Scuba Diving to a maximum depth of 2 meters underwater on a one to one basis with a PADI Instructor. [children: 8 years onwards – max 2m depth] Price: US$ 160

Discover Scuba Diving (2-3 Hrs)
No experience is necessary for this dive as the 2 to 3-hour course consists of a video, theory lesson and an introduction to the basics of scuba diving and safety concerns. After learning to master some fundamental skills in the shallow waters in front of the dive center, you will get your first sweet taste of diving at the Vabbinfaru house reef where you might be lucky enough to encounter schools of fusiliers, reef sharks, turtles and lobsters. Discover Scuba Diving – repeat dives
No experience is necessary for this dive as the 2 to 3-hour course consists of a video, theory lesson and an introduction to the basics of scuba diving and safety concerns. After learning to master some fundamental skills in the shallow waters in front of the dive center, you will get your first sweet taste of diving at the Vabbinfaru house reef where you might be lucky enough to encounter schools of fusiliers, reef sharks, turtles and lobsters. A wonderful experience in a breathtaking environment! [One Dive]

PADI Scuba Diver (2-3 Days)
This 2 to 3 day course is the first step towards basic certification and comprises half of the open water course. Comprising 3 theory and confine water sessions, and 2 open water dives, the course is the gateway to the basic scuba license, which allows one to dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters under supervision. Divers may upgrade their skills by completing the rest of their open water certification anytime. [Manual, Certification, Logbook, Diploma]

Open Water Referral (2-3 Days)
The Open Water Referral Course takes 2 -3 days to complete. Occasionally student divers who begin their scuba training elsewhere may need or want to complete their training at the resort. The maximum referral time is 12 months and you would need all your referral documents with you. [Certification, Diploma and 4 Open Water Dives]

Upgrade to Open Water (2 -3 Days)
This course normally takes 2 to 3 days and is the second step towards the full scuba license. As a certified scuba diver you just have to take two more theory lessons and go through three more dive trials before being upgraded to Open Water Diver status. There is no time limit for which to do your Open Water Diver certification after obtaining your Scuba Diver one. [Certification, Diploma]

PADI Open Water Diver (4-5 Days)
This course normally takes 4 to 5 days and leads to an internationally recognized diving certificate, which allows you to explore the ocean independently as long as you are accompanied by another certified diver and don’t go deeper than 18 meters. This is where the real fun starts. Four open water dives are included in this great challenge! To give you a better understanding of what diving is all about the training is personalized by a dive instructors who keep each group to a maximum of 4 divers. PADI Adventure Diver (2-3 Days)
This 2-3-day course is basically half of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. The course includes 3 dives and is mainly targeted at divers who do not have enough time to complete the whole PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course which comprises 5 dives. Upon receiving the PADI Adventure Diver card you may upgrade anytime for the PADI Advance by completing 2 more dives. [Manual, Certification]

Nitrox Diving (Enriched Air 32 %)
Nitrox courses are simple short courses which may be done within 1 to 2 days and will guarantee you safer dives.

Nitrox usage is becoming more popular among divers as it is much safer and can extend your time at the bottom the ocean within stipulated recreational diving limits. Nitrox diving simply increases the percentage of oxygen in your air supply, which would decrease the amount of nitrogen absorbed into your body. As nitrogen is the main cause of decompression sickness, the lower the amount of nitrogen absorption the safer you are.

Nitrox diving is ideal if you are planning to do repetitive diving or if you are likely to face decompression illness. The Nitrox course Angsana Velavaru offers includes two levels: Level 1 and 2. Please note that the maximum mix that is provided is 32% as a safety measure.

Nitrox Level 1 (1 Day)
This program includes the basic knowledge of Nitrox in theory sessions and provides the certification for the use Nitrox during your dives. Learn more about Nitrox when you take a course in Nitrox Level 2.

Nitrox level 2 (2 Days)
This program includes a theory session and two dives using Nitrox. The course teaches you the importance of using Nitrox, tables, analysis, and how to set up diving computers. You will also get the opportunity to experience diving with Nitrox.

Refresher Course (2-3 Hrs)
This refresher course is meant for certified divers who wish to refresh their skills while gaining more experience and confidence. It is a 2-3hr program which can be held in the morning or afternoon. It includes instruction, shallow water training and one dive at the house reef. [Theory & one House Reef Dive]

PADI Advanced Open Water (2-3 Days)
This 2 to 3 day course leads to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certificate. It covers 5 dives and develops your knowledge and skills in different environments. This course is very practice oriented. Boat trips are subject to additional charges. [Manual, Certification, Diploma]

Emergency First Response (4-5 Hrs)
This course takes place in a classroom setting and lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours. This Basic First Aid Course covers the primary and secondary assesment and teaches students how to provide CPR and first aid in case of an emergency. [Manual, Certification]

Rescue Diver Course (4-5 Days)
The Rescue Diver course creates the confidence to help those in need and teaches you valuable first-aid skills. This course is highly recommended if you plan a career as an instructor or dive on a regular basis. [Manual + Certification + Diploma]

Dive Master (3-4 Weeks)
Finally, the first step to becoming a PADI professional: The Dive Master course – After this 3 to 4 week course you can conduct some modules of the PADI courses yourself and accompany students on their training dives. Pre-booking necessary. PADI fees and materials are not required.

Adventure Dive (2-3 Hrs)
Choose from a range of specialty dives like Deep, Night, Navigation, Nitrox, Boat, Drift, Photography, Multi-level, Search and Recovery, Wreck, Project Aware, Fish Identification, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist and Underwater Navigation. All these dives are without certification but will be credited towards your Advanced Open Water course if you do it as an Adventure dive. You may earn a certificate by doing a minimum of 3 dives – PADI Adventure Diver – Credited towards Advanced Open water.

Specialty Course Dive (2-3 Hrs)
For those at the intermediate stage of diving specialty courses improve skills further. Wreck, Night, Deep, Multi-level and Peak Performance Buoyancy dives are among those available. By doing 5 specialities you could earn the PADI Master Scuba Diver level. [Theory and One Dive]

  • Certification will only be issued as per course program.
  • A referral program will be recommended if candidates are unable to complete the full course.
  • Divers who are planning on diving including those attempting the beginner’s courses, need to obtain a medical statement from your GP stating that you are fit for diving.
  • All the course prices are inclusive of DAN [Divers Alert network] insurance. This insurance covers divers for any suspected or ascertained cases of decompression sickness to a limit of 6000Euro within Maldivian territory for 21 days.
  • Please note that private courses and dives can be organized upon request with extra charges and all the courses are inclusive of DAN insurance.

Safety

The resort conducts regular orientation dives with all guest divers as their first dive practicing the essential diving skills such as mask clearing & alternate air source use. For divers who haven’t dived for a while ‘refresher courses’ are advised.. To ensure the safety of guests the instructors have been specially trained for emergencies and always take additional safety equipment with them. Oxygen demand system, medical first aid kits, radios and mobile phones are available on all boats and the Marine Centers. Surface markers will be provided to all the divers on all the dives.

Attention to detail is naturally focused on avoiding emergencies before they occur which is achieved by limiting the dives to a depth of 30 meters and making computers mandatory at all times while disallowing decompression dives. In case of emergencies the nearest recompression chamber and clinic is only 20 minutes from Banyan Tree. In addition the resort offers special dive insurance from DAN which take care of your finances if anything does happen.

Dive Where You Want
For certified divers the resort offer exciting dive trips to about 40 different dive sites within an hours distance from the resort. Minimum proof or certification must be shown to accept you as a certified diver prior to start diving. If you have had or currently have any medical condition, kindly obtain a written statement from a diving physician stating that you are fit to dive. Divers of or above the age of 70 or who are on medication must also obtain written consent to dive from a diving physician.

It is mandatory for all certified divers to do their initiative first dive at the house reef by way of an orientation dive. If you have not been diving for over two years it is mandatory that you renew your skills with a Refresher Course on the resorts very own house reef after a skill session in the lagoon.

You may also decide to explore the house reefs as an alternative to the boat trips. Banyan Tree is the only place in the Maldives which enables you to dive at two house reefs [Vabbinfaru and Ihuru] with a great ‘wreck’ and participate in a variety of rewarding marine conservation projects at the same time!

No News No Shoes

Laid back and chilled out. That’s Soneva Fushi. The all-year-round comfortable tropical temperature requires only light and natural fabrics. Polo-style shirts and summer dresses and sarongs are ideal. A jacket or wrap may be suitable for winter, when temperatures can be as low as 23 degrees Celsius. Shoes are not practical on the soft sandy jungle paths, so we suggest that, like your hosts, they be avoided. Laundry service is offered, but there is no dry cleaning.

Soneva Fushi offers just 65 accommodations, which capture the very essence of a luxurious castaway fantasy. The Jungle Reserve and the two Retreats offer the premier accommodation. Main Restaurant

Set on the sunrise side of the island, under the mighty Uhnee and Banyan trees you will discover our Main Restaurant.

Modern Mediterranean a la carte menu a feast for all “Six Senses”. The food has a Mediterranean and seafood influence. The a la carte menu is prepared according to light and healthy cooking methods, using only the best ingredients available. The daily changing “Simply Soneva” menu represents a selection of premium produce, creatively assembled for your dining pleasure. To enhance your dining experience we host an Asian buffet on Tuesdays and an International BBQ every Saturday evening.

The Organic Garden Restaurant

The Organic Garden Restaurant is near Cinema Paradiso and the tennis court. You will traverse organic fruit and herb gardens, and then climb broad winding stairs to a rope bridge that spans the banana plantation. A panoramic westerly aspect over the gardens and surrounding jungle will afford spectacular views of the sunset.

(Can be opened daily, except Tuesdays) The lunch is purely composed from our organic grown island produce, Maldivian seafood, fruit and vegetables.

Me Dhuniye Restaurant [Reservations recommended]

Soneva Fushi evolves again to bring something new to the table. Always looking to enhance the culinary experiences we are pleased to introduce a Peruvian and Japanese fusion culinary adventure. The menu draws heavily on classic Japanese food with South American influences.

The main inspiration was to focus on the amazing quality of the raw ingredients already abundant in the Maldives such as the local fish delivered daily to the jetty along with some of the organic produce from the garden. To ensure we got the authenticity correct we were pleased to be able to work with Toshiro Konishi, Japanese born who immigrated to Peru in 1975. His restaurant in Lima has for many years attracted positive reviews and acclaim as one of the best Sushi restaurants in the world. You can now try some of his signature dishes and an array of subtle assorted Sashimi, a variety of hand made Niguiri sushi or Maki sushi rolls. Try Toshiro’s special Peruvian Ceviche’s.

Me Dhuniye Bar and Pavillion

Sunset Cocktails from 5.30pm until the last guest leaves Me Dhuniye bar sits on the sunset side of the island, which is truly the most idyllic place to watch the sun set behind the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Sunset cocktails on the beach 700 wines are available from the nearby cellar an extensive selection of whisky, rum and aperitifs. 20 wines are available by the glass. Sunset and Cellar Tastings in the Me Dhuniye Pavilion and Wine Cellar.

Situated at the end of Jetty B, over looking the vibrant reef on the sunset side of the island., this bar is a dream for our well travelled Robinson Crusoe…tasteful, indulgent and different.

Wine Cellar

Soneva Fushi has gained worldwide recognition for the unique selection of wines available on this tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Adjacent to Me Dhuniye restaurant, our subterranean Wine Cellar holds up to seven thousand bottles in climate controlled peace.

Explore some of over 700 different labels at a wine tasting in the cellar. Six wines are tasted together with an assortment of amuse bouclé. Join our Sommelier in the cellar for an extended aperitif and find something similar, familiar, or broaden your horizons with something new.

* These evenings are an interactive discussion of six bottles with selected canapés to match the wines and our location. It is all the more enjoyable for the diversity of interests that gather around the tasting table. Thus, a minimum of six guests will have confirmed a reservation with Guest Relations before a tasting will go ahead. Cancellations after 3pm on the day of the tasting will be charged at sixty US dollars per guest.

Wine Dinners

Every day, with a minimum of four guests from 7pm (Please confirm your reservation the day before). For these indulgent dinners the menus are written after bottles have been selected. We create a suitable dish to match both the wine and your occasion. Our Executive Chef and Sommelier will arrange to meet with you the day before to discuss your preferences for the menu and wines.

The Soneva Fushi and the Environment

Sustainable development has become a guiding principle for governments, businesses, NGOs and the public sector. In recent years there has also been a growing interest in what is now termed ‘eco-tourism’, as the hospitality industry responds to increased consumer awareness of environmental issues. Travellers and guests now expect hotels and resorts to have policies and practices that: promote sustainable waste management; reduce energy use; encourage sustainable purchasing; and minimise carbon emissions.

Tourism is one of the largest and fastest growing industries and has significant social and environmental impacts, not only locally but globally. In order to develop in a sustainable way resorts should not consume renewable resources, such as forests (and timber), soil, water and fish stocks faster than they are replenished. Also, non-renewable resources (fossil fuels, minerals and ores) should not be exploited before renewable substitutes can be found. Similarly, pollutants, in the form of solid, liquid and gaseous emissions and greenhouse gasses in particular should not be released faster than they can be recycled within the ecosystem. Sustainable development is based on the premise that current needs are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Sustainability means doing things better – not doing without. Since the opening of Six Senses’ flagship resort in 1995, Soneva Fushi has made sustainability a priority, without compromising the experience and expectations of guests. Indeed, the resort has demonstrated that luxury and minimal environmental impact are compatible. The Soneva Gili and the Environment

The core purpose of Six Senses Resorts & Spas is ‘to create innovative and enriching experiences in a sustainable environment’. The theme behind Soneva Gili is ‘Intelligent Luxury’, with the resort displaying a high level of care and attention to the environment whilst providing all the modern day luxuries you would expect at the most exclusive resorts.

The resort has certainly left no stone unturned in their pursuit to provide an uncompromised level of service and standards afforded to guests. However they seem conscious that the fragile environment that they live in is one of their main attractions. Thus the resort has tried to minimize the impact made by development and have deliberately left some stones as they are. The choice of building materials and interiors was dictated by a desire towards sustainable development; hence the absence of rainforest teak, coral, or turtle shell. Materials such as pine, telegraph poles, palm wood, bamboo and plantation teaks are used instead. Interior items such as water hyacinth (the reeds that clog rivers), and papier-mâché (old newspapers covered by rice paper) demonstrate a good use of waste products.

As a hotel operation the management also understand that growth and prime existence should make a difference in the local community. Each year the resort carefully invests 0.5% of annual revenue in projects that produce socio-economic returns to the communities and create differences in the livelihoods of the local people.

Naladhu’s own style of pampering begins from the moment you arrive. Upon touchdown at Male International Airport (and clearing customs and immigration formalities), you will be met by your own personal House Master, who will serve as your exclusive concierge, butler and personal assistant for the duration of your stay on this beautiful island. After a warm welcome, your House Master will guide you to the private Naladhu launch. The 13 km ride to Naladhu takes approximately half an hour as you glide over the emerald waters of the Indian Ocean, weaving between some of the Maldives’ famed islands. Seasonal cocktails and snacks, an iPod and sound system with your favourite music are among the elegant trimmings as you are whisked to the paradise of your beautiful, spacious Ocean or Beach House on Naladhu.

Accommodation

Your own island hideaway. Private. Intimate. Created for you. Each of Naladhu’s 19 secluded houses incorporates timeless design, idyllic views and – unique to Naladhu – an unmatched feeling of home. Free-flowing spaces that allow you to drift from one perfect moment to the next. From the expansive bedroom to the classic, intimate comfort of the dressing room, to the open-air bath, steam room and garden rain shower, out to the private plunge pool and gardens and multi-tiered hardwood deck and dining sala, your house abounds in space, beckoning you to explore and uncover the luxurious surprises around every corner.

The largest room in the house, the bedroom manages to be both expansive and intimate, with high vaulted ceilings of free-flowing space, contrasted with cozy corners for reading, lounging, writing or enjoying the house’s home theatre system. White-washed timber wall panels juxtapose brilliant Indian and Sri Lankan motifs and fabrics, hints of local colour.

Naladhu offers two house types;

Beach Houses – facing own stretch of pristine white beach and lagoon side

Ocean Houses – view over the Indian Ocean, with hardwood deck

Bath – Cool hardwood and terracotta floors below and ceiling fans gently whirring above. Unwind in a romantic outdoor bath while gazing out to an endless moonlit sea. Or, cross playful flagstone steps between the dual mirrored vanities to the outdoor waterfall shower, shaded by bougainvillea and frangipani.At the opposite end of the pavilion, by the plunge pool, is the delightful outdoor soaking tub sprinkled with rose petals. Allow all your tensions to melt away with the thermal healing of your private steam room and shower, while you savour the view of the tropical surrounds. Your bath features delightfully aromatic elixirs by L’Occitane, ultra-plush oversized terrycloth towels, scented candles and a daybed for lounging between soaks in the tub. This may become your favourite room in the house – feel free.

Pool – Total privacy. A midnight dip under the stars. Toasting a picture-perfect sunset over the lagoon. The infinity-edge pool is an integral feature of your House – seamlessly blending wood, light, air and water. Sliding doors off the bedroom give way to the clear waters of the pool, as do the hardwood floors of the bath and deck. Meanwhile, the surrounding gardens, lush with native Maldivian flowering plants and island greenery, remind you that you’re firmly ensconced in paradise. The Living Room is where Naladhu residents come together to enjoy fine wines, conversation, splendid views and sea breezes – and some of the finest dining you may ever encounter on any continent.The Living Room concept features daily table d’hôte menus which change daily based on whatever the chef finds fresh at the market that day. This means you are assured only the best quality ingredients and the chef’s playful fusion of cooking styles to tantalise your taste buds, island style.

Overlooking the lagoon, with an expansive hardwood deck for al fresco dinners in the ocean breeze, or floor-to-ceiling glass walls surrounding the casually elegant interior, The Living Room is a study in chic design without pretension. Its centerpiece is a glass-walled walk-in wine cellar, stocked with some of the most esteemed (and a few of the most rare) vintages from both the Old and New Worlds – a collection to rival any destination restaurant in any world capital. The staff – including the chef himself – will help you pair the wine with the meal or the meal with the wine, in an effort to ensure that every dining experience is one as timeless as Naladhu.

In-house Dining –You’re allowed in indulge at Naladhu – in fact, it’s encouraged.

Sometimes, indulgence means spending a cozy night in your private house, dressed as you wish, watching the waves roll in from your deck, or with a favourite classic film on the home theatre system. For these times, you’ll be happy to know that the chefs of the Living Room can cater to your every whim, right in the privacy of your villa, at just about any time day or night.

Satisfy tastes ranging from the classic to the eccentric, whenever, wherever. Dine in
privacy on your terrace, under the stars or the sun. Enjoy a barbecue on your deck, complete with your own private chef and waiter. Or, for the true romantic, surprise your loved one and organise a champagne breakfast.

The resorts chefs also offer a variety of set dinners for every craving, including Thai, Indian, Maldivian and Western. Or, kick back on your deck at sunset with a platter of the house favourite canapés and a bottle of Krug. Have a favourite that isn’t listed on the menu? Your House Master will see to it that it’s provided – or at least his own creative interpretation.

Intimate Dining – Romance abounds on Naladhu and its spectacular surrounds. Being a bit romantic themselves, the chefs have designed a range of truly unique dining opportunities called ‘Intimate Dining Affairs’, in which they bring their favourite menus to the destination of your choice around the island. Complete with candles, tablecloths, silver ware and all the little touches of perfection, these ‘Intimate Affairs’ offer some of Naladhu’s most precious timeless moments for you both to cherish.

Escape to a nearby desert island for a private beach dinner. Feast onboard an elegant dhoni, the traditional Maldivian sailboat, as you sail into the sunset. The staff will cater private parties, pre-dinner cocktails or afternoon tea in the comfort of your pavilion villa. Things to do

Diving/Snorkelling – Some of the best views in the Maldives can be found below the surface. Naladhu’s on-site PADI Dive Centre offers a full range of scuba certification courses. With classes ranging from scuba discovery to advanced open-water, wreck diving and even rescue dives, Naladhu residents, from first-timer to fanatic, are sure to find an adventure suited to their abilities. Every day, the centre offers up to four dives at a variety of locations – in fact, within a half-hour radius of the island, there are no less than 20 world-class dives to enjoy.

All dives are guided and divided into small groups for maximum comfort and enjoyment underwater. Just bring yourself, as the Dive Centre has everything else you require – towels, equipment, suits and onboard refreshments. Your House Master can arrange a gourmet picnic lunch of your choice. Just choose your desert island.

For more laid-back residents, the resort offer a variety of snorkelling excursions to neighbouring reefs, manta ray “cleaning stations” and of course the resorts own house reef teeming with underwater beauty. Embark on an adventure via catamaran, dhoni or the Naladhu launch to locations near and far afield. Given the beauty of the Maldives, the journey is unforgettable in itself.

Sailing –The warm ocean breeze in your hair. The rustle of canvas sails above. Naladhu’s own fleet of luxury launches, catamarans and sailing yachts are available for charter, fishing trips and island-hopping adventures all around the South Male Atoll. The experienced (or adventurous) can harness the power of the winds and hone their knot-tying skills in the calm waters of the Indian Ocean, or more relaxed residents can simply unwind on deck with champagne or a cocktail (and awe-inspiring tropical views) while experienced local skippers do all the work. For the ultimate in sailing style, unwind on the decks of a luxurious dhoni, the traditional Maldivian sailboat. Fishing – All aboard the elegant dhoni, the Riyaa, for a sail across the lagoon. The resort provides all the equipment for a Private Sunset Fishing expedition. When you start craving dinner, you’ll be back just in time for the chef to grill your catch however you’d like!

After you’ve taken a dive in the reefs of Naladhu, you’ll be curious to see what roams in deeper waters. There are afternoon or morning deep-sea fishing excursions. You’ll first cruise past smaller atolls until you reach open ocean, where Sailfish, Marlin and Wahoo thrive.

The game fishing launch is outfitted with advanced equipment for the expedition, which is able to handle the weight of the bigger game you’ll be catching. As always, the crew is eager to cater to every whim. Perhaps you’d like a champagne toast or an assortment of evening canapés in between the big-game action. Your House Master and chef can arrange your outing however you please.

You can start your water sports adventures with the complimentary canoes provided for you to enjoy the beautiful (and calm) lagoon fronting the island. For those feeling a bit more adventurous, have a go at windsurfing. Don’t worry if it’s your first try – encouragement comes with a lesson or two that will enable you to enjoy the wind and sea in a new and challenging way.
